It’s starting.

Oh, all right. Now it’s going? All right.

Yeah.

So, thanks for joining us for our Wellness Wednesday. Today, my wife and I are taking a little road trip for Valentine’s Day.

So, I wanted to show you guys a couple things that I do whenever I’m making a long drive, to fight back pain because it’s very common. Certain people handle it okay, certain people don’t. I had a disc injury in college, doing some stuff that, I mean, I didn’t know what I was doing, hurt my back and now I have a long standing issue that I have to be really proactive to keep it from bothering me. Driving is one of the hardest things on me.

So, what I do that I suggest all of our patients, that you guys, do, whenever you’re taking a long trip. The first thing that a lot of people hear is once an hour get out and it’s worth the time, take that but what do you do during that time?

Rather than just get out and stand up, there’s couple of things that I suggest. One is I’ll actually get outside of the car, get onto the side of it so I can stabilize and I’m just going to swing my leg. I’m going to lean barely away, so I can swing this leg and it doesn’t hit the ground 10 times. So, three, four, five, just going through 10 reps there. Then I would turn around and do 10 reps here. So that I’m letting it hang and it’s getting a little bit of a pull by the weight of my leg and swinging.

Then I’ll actually turn towards and swing in front. So, I’ll do 10 here and then 10 here.

Then I’ll go into doing 10 squats. So, I’m going to try and slowly go down and get my butt down to my knees and come back up. Whenever I come up, I’m going to tighten my butt because whenever you sit a lot, your butt and your back are going to be stretched out and your hamstrings get really tight. So, I’m going to do those squats, tighten my butt.

I also suggest doing a couple of lunges down in, if you can. You can grab onto the car and push up out of it if you need to.

And the last one is a really good move, you can look it up, it’s called The Founder by, I think his name is [David Goodman 00:02:04]. It’s another chiropractor but the end move is where you actually drive your butt back, get a stretch on your hamstrings, tighten your lower back … got a motorcycle going by … and then bring your arms out front and reach. So, I’m stretching my hamstrings, tightening my lower back and pushing my hands from my butt, as far as I can, to get a decompression. I’ll hold that for around 15 seconds and do it a couple times.

So, try mixing those in. The leg swings, the squats, the lunges and then that last bit right there.

Travel safe, enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you all next week, all right.
