Get moving!

Getting into exercise is something that everyone says they want to do, but a lot of people find difficult to actually get around to get moving. Most people find a reason why they should wait to start or shouldn’t start. Many reasons include being injured, not having time or even just not enjoying it.

We know that exercise is important but why?

Here are a couple reasons why you SHOULD start working out:

  1. Exercise is very important for neurological health. It forces your nervous system to constantly learn and involves intense stimulation to the areas in our brain that do this.
  2. Exercise can be highly beneficial to your cardiovascular health as it requires an increase in blood flow around the body.
  3. Exercise also can have a positive effect on mood and reduce stress. Ultimately it gives you clear your head space and get your endorphins going.

A good way to get into exercise is to try something you’ve never tried before. There are many gyms around which offer classes in different styles of exercise. These could be things like yoga, CrossFit, pilates, zumba, circuit training, body weight training, spinning and many, many more. Many of these gyms or studios offer free trial classes or great introductory offers. They are also a place where you can meet people who may be interested in similar things and on a similar fitness path to you. Lastly, it is always nice to have a structured workout planned and have someone there to correct your form if you are doing moves incorrectly, trainers always lead these classes and this is hugely beneficial to your experience.

Injuries keeping you from moving?

If an injury is preventing you from getting back into exercise, it’t time to do something about it! The body is great at healing itself, but if you take charge of your health and get an adjustment at Denison Chiropractic you may see the change you want to get your fitness goals.

Once you have started an exercise routine, you will start to notice changes in your body. At first you will most likely be sore. This is a completely normal thing and don’t let it scare you.

Once you start working out and making it a normal part of your routine, you are more likely to stick with it. Make goals for yourself. Goals that are very clear and achievable. Don’t set a goal of, “get skinny” or “have a six pack”. Yes the thought on those are nice but you need an obtainable and time managed goal. A good example is, “Lose 10 pounds in 2 months.”
