Hey, everybody. I wanted to shoot a quick video about “What is Neck Traction?” We’re going to start on Wednesdays. We get a lot of questions! So on Wednesdays I’m going to do a little wellness Wednesday video to answer questions-patients or not. If you have any questions (chiropractic, health, wellness) send us a message or even comment under the comments.

But today, I’m going to go over our neck traction because we’ve had some patients asking exactly what it does and why. Whenever we’re dealing with the spine, there’s bones and discs in between and a lot of times we compress through the day and we lay down at night and we decompress. If we’re out of alignment, the joints don’t move how they should so even though we still compress during the day, we’re not going to be able to decompress like normal at night. So fluid isn’t staying in those discs.

So what we have here is a neck traction where we actually come up and we wrap this around the back of the neck and then your chin goes here and you just do a slow dip and it’s getting a couple things. One is actually that neck traction opening in that space so fluid can go into the discs but also to give some encouragement of that curve in the back of the neck because 99% of people have lost the curve in their neck that they’ve had.

It should be here. If it comes forward, the weight of the head lays onto the body weird. It causes all types of issues. So that’s a little bit about neck traction for today. Just wanted to show you guys what this is, why we do neck traction, and why it’s important. And hit me up with any questions and we’ll see you all next week.
